Four sides into Alliance cup semi-finals

It was cup quarter-final day in the Northern Alliance League on Saturday and four local sides made it through to the semi-finals in their respective competitions.

In the League Cup Cullercoats won 5-1 away to Bedlington FC, whilst Willington Quay Saints beat Prudhoe YC Seniors 2-1 and New Fordley beat Haltwhistle 2-0.

In the semi-finals AFC Killingworth will take on Cullercoats with New Fordley facing Willington Quay. Games will be played on February 22.

Meanwhile, in the Gardner Cup, Percy Main Athletic edged a thriller 4-3 at home to Gosforth Bohemiens and they will now meet Newcastle Chemfica in the semi’s. The other semi will be between Newcastle Blue Star and Winlaton Vulcans.

In the Premier Division, bottom of the table Seaton Delaval travelled to take on Alnwick Town, where they went down to a 3-0 defeat.

They remain four points adrift of second bottom Whitley Bay Reserves, who went down 3-2 at home to Shankhouse.

North Shields Athletic, who are just above the bottom sides, lost 2-1 at home to Wallington.

This Saturday’s Premier Division fixtures are:

Ponteland United v Seaton Delaval; Shankhouse v New Fordley; Wallington v Cullercoats; Whitley Bay Res v Percy Main Ams.

In Division 1, Whitley Bay Sporting Club won 4-1 away to Felling Magpies and thjey are ninth on 18 points, whilst Wallsend Boys Club beat Seaton Burn 4-0 and they are now thjird in the table on 24 points.

This weekend in Division 1 it’s FC United of Newcastle v Wallsend Boys Club; Whitley Bay Sporting Club v Blyth Spartans Res.

In Division 2, Seaton Sluice beat Newcastle Blue Star Reserves 3-2 and they are now eighth on 20 points. This weekend they travel to face Ellington. Willington Quay Saints, who are tenth on 18 points, are away to Wideopen & District.

In the Development Division, second from bottom of the table Whitley Bay Sporting Club A went down to a 2-1 home defeat against Heaton Stannington – on Saturday they are away to West Jesmond, who have only lost two league games this season.
