The game was played in excellent spirit throughout with both teams working hard to establish control of the central areas.

Cullercoats made the breakthrough on 19 minutes when an excellent through ball from Leame Robinson was dispatched into the top left corner by Hylton Hub.

Elliot Mitchell added a second four minutes before the break with a superb headed goal direct from a Lloyd Leigh right wing corner.

The West Allotment keeper also made a string of first half saves to keep the home side in it.

The second half was a more even contest with defences coming out on top.

Mitchell was named man of the match for a top quality performance in central defence.

Cullercoats 21s are in league action next Sunday at home to Newcastle Chemfica, kick-off 2pm.
