Following Thursday night’s game at Marske United, Whitley Bay face another long journey on Saturday when they travel to Cumbria to take on Penrith.

The hosts are comfortably placed in mid-table and while Whitley still have at least six games in hand on many of the sides around them, they need to start picking up points on a more regular basis if they are to pull away from the relegation zone.

Chris McDonald will be available following his suspension, which is a big plus for Ian Chandler’s side.

Whitley face two more away games in the coming week, with the League Cup quarter-final at Esh Winning on Wednesday evening followed less than 48 hours later by a vitally important local derby at West Allotment Celtic on Good Friday.

The Allotment game has a noon kick-off and is being classified as a ‘must win’ game for both sides as they battle to retain their Northern League first division status.
