With the advantage in the first half, Chris Connor opened the scoring on three minutes when he scored direct from a corner.

James Ridley then added a superb second on six minutes with a long range effort from 40 yards which flew over the Blyth keeper’s outstretched arms.

Daniel Iredale added a third on midway through the half when he broke the offside trap on the halfway line to run clear and beat the keeper.

Blyth pulled a goal back soon after, but further home goals from Elliot Mitchell with a header and another cool finish from Iredale made the score 5-1 at the break.

Blyth started the second half with the wind advantage, but it was Iredale who struck again on 53 minutes to complete his hat-trick and extend the lead to 6-1.

Blyth scored two goals in the final ten minutes to make the final score 6-3 to Cullercoats.

David Cooper had another superb game in goal for the home side in difficult conditions.

Cullercoats are in League Cup action at home to Killingworth Town on Saturday, February 6, kick-off 2pm.
