A school’s avid supporter has been honoured for his own support helping the youngsters.
John Bolam has been named the Danone Nations Cup Match Day Hero 2015.
John was nominated by footballers from Valley Gardens Middle School, in Whitley Bay, who took part in the Danone Nations Cup football tournament, the world’s biggest football tournament for ten to 12-year-olds.
The school chose John because of all the work he does setting up pitches, travelling to away fixtures and offering support to all of the teams at the school.
To celebrate John’s success, Danone presented the Match Day Hero a special trophy and a £50 gift card as a thank you for his ongoing support to Valley Gardens Middle School football team.
Charlotte Broos, CSR manager at Danone, said: “Congratulations to John.
“This year we want to celebrate the people in the community that make the ESFA Danone Nations Cup an unforgettable experience for the players.
“The nomination for John from Valley Gardens Middle School really stood out and we are delighted to have him as our Match Day Hero.”
John said: “I’m absolutely delighted to receive my Match Day Hero award from Danone.
“Thanks to everyone on the team for nominating me, I love watching the kids playing football – I never miss a game.”
