Ashington Bubbles played their first game of the season when they entertained Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League leaders Broomhill North End Trap.
In a competitive encounter either side could have taken the spoils but in the end they shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Kris Allington scored both goals for Bubbles while on target for North End were Liam Eason and Stephen Hogg.
South Beach moved up to second with a 3-0 home win against Ashington Grand thanks to goals from Stephen Craig, Lee Seller and Stuart Dickinson.
Ashington Excelsior went down 5-1 at home to Blyth and Tyne. Mark Mabon scored for Excelsior, but goals from James Bell (3), Stephen Forrester and Mark Rylatt won it.
Blyth Comrades won 5-1 at Cramlington Level 3 by 5-1 with goals from Terry Self (3), Antonie Ridley and Daniel Wilson.
North Shields The Tun and Forest Hall were heading for a share of the points but a goal by The Tuns’ Alan Baptist in injury time gained all three for the home side in a 2-1 win. The Tuns’ other goal was an own goal while Liam Watts was on target for Forest Hall.
Division one saw early leaders Blyth Last Orders have an easy 10-1 win at Blyth United Services. David Long scored the consolation gaol for Services while Mathew Crooks (5), Martyn Hepple (4) and Andrew Scott were on target for the winners.
Newsham Victory are second after a narrow 3-2 home win against FC Beacon. On target for Vic were David Lillico, Craig Frazer and Chris Coppen with Stuart Main and Luke Skipper scoring for Beacon.
Blyth Isabella Colliery won 4-2 home at home to Cramlington Green with goals from Jason Hamilton (2), James Arkless and Duane Dunn. Jamie Summers and Karl Boughen scored for Green.
High Street went down at 4-1 at home to AE Phoenix Riverside with Anthony Goldie scoring the consolation. Strikes from Kevin Chapman (2), Andrew Hedley and Luke Carr won it for Phoenix.
Guide Post SC and Ashington Northern shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Chris Robinson scored Guide Post with Richard Stobbart replying for Northern.
Also sharing the points was Marden Residents at home against East Chevington, with Chevington picking up their first point of the season. Shaun Nolan scored for Residents with Darren Smith replying for the visitors.
