Leaders Victory put eight past second placed Welfare

The top two in the Tyneside Amateur League met on Saturday with second-placed Stobswood Welfare hosting leaders Hazlerigg Victory.

Victory took the lead with an own goal but John Spears ensured parity at the break.

However, a hat-trick from in-form Dale Pearson, a brace from Richard Coulson and further goals from Sean McRoberts and Alex Patterson saw Hazlerigg run away with it 8-1 in the end.

Bedlington Juniors and Blyth Town Reserves remain third and fourth after a 2-2 draw in a highly competitive affair, with Town gaining a point thanks to a last minute leveller.

Dean Fitch and Andrew McLennan scored for Bedlington, with Thomas Barton and Shaun Taylor netting for Blyth.

Newcastle Chemfica Reserves finally stopped the rot after nine successive defeats in all competitions with a 4-3 win against North Shields Athletic Reserves, finally getting the better of them at the third attempt this season.

Leeroy Odd (2) and Alex Hilne netted for Shields, but goals from Carl Lattimer, Nick Watson and Craig Robinson (2) earned Fica the points.

Newcastle East End continued their recent good form and won for the second week running, this time 4-1 at Newcastle Medicals. Callum Gibson, Shaun Heany, Elliott Pate and Michael Stephenson netted their goals, with Mark Richardson on target for Medicals.

Ponteland United Reserves and Ryton and Crawcrook Albion Reserves shared the points in a 1-1 draw with Ryan Murphy scoring for Pont and Nathan Sheppard finding the net for Ryton.

The remaining two games were postponed.
