Missed opportunities costs Ladies

Whitley Bay and Tynemouth First Team Ladies travelled to Kendal to play an important match.

With the team putting in a solid performance against Loughborough they hoped to again improve on this.

Whitley Bay had a positive warm up and started well. However, an early goal from Kendal against the run of play left them with some hard work to do.

The visitors had lots of possession for the next 25 minutes until they forced the first penalty corner of the game, yet failed to convert it.

In the second half Whitley Bay put a lot of pressure on Kendal who were giving a good performance.

Unfortunately for Whitley Bay, Kendal scored a second goal making it even harder for to get points out of the game. Although Whitley Bay managed to win 10 penalty corners none were successfully converted.

The Ladies’ third team played Richmond 1sts and narrowly lost 3-2.

The Men’s firsts played their last match of the season and went down 4-2 to Formby, leaving them third in the Northern Premier – the highest position in the Men’s history.

The third team, recovering from a 10-0 defeat, played out of their socks to narrowly lose 2-1 to Marton Furness at home. Undoubtedly the performance of the season against 2nd place Furness.

In the Harper League, the Junior Ladies B team beat Newcastle 1-0 while the A team drew 1-1 with Northumberland Vets.
