New York miss chance to close the gap

A HANDFUL of games got the go ahead as the league finally returned to action.

Gosforth Bohemians A cemented second place in division two with a success at Ponteland United Reserves by the odd goal in seven. Mark Envy grabbed a hat-trick and Gregg Lang added a fourth, whilst Darren Parkes bagged a brace for Pont and Ryan Murphy also scored.

Newcastle Medicals are right behind Bohs in third after a 2-1 win at Newcastle East End. Ben Fish scored for the home side, but Mark Tobin and assistant boss James Burns gave Medicals all three points.

In division one, New York missed out on the chance to close the gap to leaders Walker Central Reserves to a point. Billy Simmons scored for them against Chemfica Reserves, but Tito Davidson earned Fica a share of the points.

Cullercoats Reserves meanwhile are fourth and at the head of a pack of teams on 16 points after a 2-1 home win over Wardley. Dean Clay and Ira Tilley won it for Cullercoats, with Aaron Coote netting for Wardley.

Stobswood Welfare bowed out of the Northumberland FA Minor Cup, going down 4-1 to North Sunderland.
