Newsham Victory and Ashington Northern on game from final

Newsham Victory and Ashington Northern will meet in the Standard Security Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League Eric Anderson Cup semi-final with Red Lion Bedlington awaiting the winners.

Newsham Victory went through with a 5-1 win against Marden Residents with David Lillico (3), Joe Betts and Chris Yellowley on target. Shaun Nolan scored for Residents.

Ashington Northern won 4-1 at premier division side Red Lion Earsdon, who had Charlie Thompson on target. But goals a Daniel McDonald hat-trick and Kris Coppen strike won it.

Goals from Adam Harvey (2), Reece Farrell and Liam Hornsby earned Red Lion Bedlington a 4-0 win in their semi-final against Guide Post Social Club.

In round one of the JD Marnock Cup, High Street beat Cramlington Green in extra time. A James Thompson goal looked to have won it for Green, but a late Adam Emmerson strike took it to extra time and Street took control with an Anthony Goldie scoring a hat-trick.

In the quarter-finals, Ashington Station Lounge went through with a 4-1 win at first division FC Beacon, who had Keith Kennedy on target. But rwo each for Damien Stevens and Chad Miller sent Lounge through.

In the premier division, Broomhill North End Trap went down at home 5-0 against Burradon and New Fordley. On target for the Fordley side were Lee Waugh, Ian Lee, Dale Pearson, Asndy Malone and new boy Mateusz Halambiec.

Division one saw Ashington Sporting Club go down at home by the odd goal in five against Blyth United Services. Robert Sharpe and Scott Neal scored for Sporting Club. On target for Services were James More, Martin Robson and Stephen Hardy.

East Chevington lost 2-1 at home against Whitehouse Ashington. Mark Smith scored for the home side but Gavin McMillian and Jordan Hancock goals won it for Whitehouse.

Next weekend the league will hold the first finals at Bedlington Terriers’ Wlafare Park.

Newsham Victory will play High Street in the final of the Saints Shield with a 10.30am kick-off, then Red Lion Earsdon will play Burradon and New Fordley in the SA Randolph Cup with a 2.30pm kick-off.
