North Shields looking to continue run in FA Vase

On Saturday North Shields continue on the FA Vase trail with a visit to Northern League first division colleagues Sunderland RCA, who are managed by former Shieldsman Martin Swales.

The side’s last met in 2010 with the Shieldsmen losing a league game 3-1, but they did record a 4-0 success at Meadow Park in the Ernest Armstrong Trophy.

Shields’ scorers that day were Mark Rasmussen, Steve Robinson, Robbie Livermore and Femi Akinbolu, whilst the long serving Michael Robinson donned the gloves and the current management trio of Graham Fenton, Andy Bowman and Brian Smith all played.

The Robins have seen off Northallerton Town, Stokesley and AFC Emley in the current FA Carlsberg Vase run so far.

Kick-off in Saturday’s tie is 3pm with any replay set for Wednesday, November 26, at 7.30pm.
