Oadby is test game for Bay

WHITLEY Bay complete their pre-season programme with a home game against Oadby Town on Saturday.

The sides have met once before, back in 2003, when the Leicestershire club became the first side to beat Whitley at Hillheads in the FA Vase.

Having won the Vase for the first time the previous season, Whitley’s defence of the trophy ended in the fifth round when a goal in the last minute of extra time gave Oadby a shock 2-1 victory after Whitley had played with ten men for more than half the game.

Following Saturday’s game, manager Ian Chandler will have a week to prepare his side for the FA Cup extra preliminary round, when Whitley will travel to Bridlington.

A big turn out of fans is expected at Bridlington and the Supporters Club still have a few seats available on their coach to the game.

Further details will be available at Saturday’s game against Oadby.
