WHITLEY Bay’s pre-season programme continues this weekend with a trip to Derbyshire to take on Glossop North End, the side they beat 2-0 in their first Wembley FA Vase Final in 2009.
Glossop visited Hillheads two years ago in a pre-season friendly and some of their fans also made the trip for Mark Taylor’s testimonial game, a gesture appreciated by everyone at Whitley Bay FC.
Whitley are then back at Hillheads on the evening of Tuesday, July 31, when Northern League newcomers Ryhope CW are the visitors.
Champions of the Wearside League last season, Ryhope have won promotion to the Northern League second division and will be keen to make an impression in their first season at the higher level.
The sides met in a friendly at Ryhope two years ago, Whitley running out 4-1 winners with all the goals coming late in the game.
