An early own goal from a Robins defender gave Ryhope the perfect start.

Nick Cassidy, Gareth Bainbridge and Ryan Carr all had chances to level before the break.

However, the hosts doubled their lead through a fine Jon Weirs solo goal.

And after substitute Scott McCarthy’s effort was blocked at the near post with ten minutes to spare, the Robins’ hopes of a cup run were over.

On Saturday the Robins are back in league action away to Ashington and next Wednesday face Seaham.
