Goal celebrations for North Shields on Saturday.

An early Peter Glen-Ravenhill strike helped the visitors off to a fast start.

However, goals from Patton and Scott McCarthy gave the Robins a 2-1 lead at the break.

Dennis Knight drew Benfield level midway through the second period with a smart finish.

But in added time, Patton struck twice to secure all three points for the hosts.

The visitors took the lead when a deep cross into the box was met at the far post by Glen-Ravenhill, with the former Whitley Bay forward nodding home under pressure from a defender.

Robins equalised when McCarthy gained possession just outside of the penalty area, before turning his man and calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

In the 43rd minute, they took the lead when McCarthy found Patton on the corner of the penalty area, with the winger driving his marker back before unleashing a shot which deflected in off the base of the post.

With the rain falling, Benfield drew level when Knight hammered a cross past the outstretched hand of Purvis and into the back of the net.

A draw looked to be on the cards, but Patton passed the ball into the net late on and he then hammered the ball into the net to complete his hat-trick.

This results lifts the Robins up to fifth in the Ebac Northern League Division One table, and this weekend they are away to Guisborough.
