Percy Main 2-3 Seaton Delaval
Seaton Delaval completed an early season double over Percy Main, when following on from a 6-2 home win three weeks ago they triumphed 6-2 on Saturday.
With seven wins from eight, Seaton are ciurrently top of the Northern Alliance Premier Division.
The visitors certainly made their intentions clear from the start, and they took the game to Percy, scoring three goals in a 15-minute spell which left The Main with a mountain to climb.
For Percy, there were lessons to be learned from each of Seaton Delaval’s goals and the number of times throughout that The Main’s attack were caught offside, but not withstanding, new Main manager Steve Hurd could take encouragement from his side’s much improved second half showing and commitment from the squad, as they chased what had looked to be a hopeless cause at the interval.
Ryan Gladstone had fired Delaval in frontbefore the visitors doubled their advantage of 29 minutes when Trodd found the net from distance.
Seaton Delaval scored their third on 40 minutes as Mark McDonnell intercepted a back pass by Jack Pearson and was able to step around the stricken home goalkeeper and slide the ball into an empty net.
Percy pulled a goal back on the hour mark through Thompson from the penalty spot after Leech was fouled.
Their second goal came with just a minute remaining when the referee spotted an infringement in the box and Thompson confidently converted his second penalty of the afternoon.
