Good performances in recent games at Hillheads have given Whitley Bay a timely boost ahead of a series of particularly challenging matches.
The Northern League fixture list has handed Ian Chandler’s side as tough a sequence of games as could be imagined, with a trip to FA Vase winners Spennymoor on Saturday followed by a visit to league leaders Shildon on Wednesday evening.
There is another away game at Team Northumbria the following Saturday.
Whitley were then due to face a quick return game with Spennymoor at Hillheads on Tuesday, October 29, but this has now been rearranged with the Moors now scheduled to visit North Tyneside on Saturday, November 9.
That means the next home fixture fo Bay will be against West Auckland will be on Saturday, November 2.
Saturday’s game at Spennymoor, who are currently second in the table, could see former Bay keeper Kyle Hayes lining up against his old team-mates, although his place in the Moors side is not assured.
Another former Bay stalwart, Lee Kerr, is unlikely to feature at the Brewery Field after he put in a transfer request to leave the County Durham side.
