Action from Saturday's game at Billingham.

Guy Fawkes Night celebrations were going on in the neighbouring area but events on the Teesdale Park pitch amounted to little more than a damp squib.

The deadlock was only broken 15 minutes from the end when Thornaby were awarded a controversial penalty and Preston converted to put his side in front.

In the 90th minute, Thornaby broke and scored a second. It seemed all over, but in the third minute of injury time Mark Robinson netted for what seemed no more than a consolation.

However, three minutes after that, well into stoppage time, Craig McFarlane crashed the ball into the roof of the net for a dramatic equaliser.

On Saturday Whitley Bay travelled to take on Billingham Town, but returned empty handed on the wrong end of a 2-0 result.

Whitley were much the better side for long periods but failed to convert their superiority into goals, whereas Billingham were were more clinical and made the most of the few chances they created.

The frame of the goal came to the rescue of the hosts on two occasions whilst keeper Bradley Young pulled off some fine saves.

After a goalless first half Jamie Poole scored against the run of play to give Billingham the lead in the second half. And striker Craig Hutchinson made the game safe for the home side with a late breakaway second.
