Whites put six past Devils as the league restarts

WHITLEY Bay Boys Club Whites finally got their Saturday league fixtures underway for 2011 with a well deserved victory over Forest Hall Red Devils.

It did not take long for the visitors to take control of the game.

An early corner taken was hit on the volley by Sam who only narrowly missed.

The Whites continued to pressure the away defence and were rewarded when Oliver opened the scoring with a fine effort. Minutes later a great shot from Will was cleared off the line.

A second goal followed when Oliver intercepted a Forest Hall pass and calmly slotted it past the keeper.

A superb cross by Will was finished off brilliantly by Oliver to give him his hat-trick.

By the closing stages of this half, the Whites were firmly in control and their dominance was displayed when Jake hit a superb long range effort which beat the keeper.

A fifth goal soon followed when Will hit the back of the net after a brilliant solo effort.

The second half got underway and the Whites continued where they left off but against the run of play, Forest Hall scored two quick goals.

This seemed to galvanise the Whites and they soon knuckled down. A sixth goal, and Oliver’s fourth, was not long in coming.

Oliver received the ball on the half way line and he and Will began running at the Forest Hall defence. As the keeper came out to narrow the angle, Oliver coolly placed the ball beyond his reach.
