Whitley Bay will be aiming to put the disappointment of their FA Vase defeat behind them when they travel to the Nissan Sports Complex on Saturday to take on Washington.
The Mechanics were promoted back to the Northern first division this season and made a flying start.
Like Whitley they enjoyed a successful FA Cup run, but both sides have since suffered a dip in form and Saturday’s win at Bedlington was only their second league victory in their last eight games.
Whitley’s Northumberland Senior Cup quarter-final tie at home to Morpeth Town, due to have been played this week, has been put back until Tuesday, December 1, due to Morpeth’s FA Vase tie being rearranged for midweek after the game was called off on Saturday.
This leaves Whitley with the rare luxury of a free week to prepare for Saturday’s game.
