Following the abandonment of last Tuesday evening’s game against Guisborough due to fog, and with no fixture on Saturday, Whitley Bay now face a hectic October with nine games scheduled for the coming month.
On Saturday they travel to Newton Aycliffe to face mid-table opponents who include former Bay defender Steve Gibson in their ranks.
Then on Tuesday, October 8, Sunderland RCA, who like Whitley have had a mixed fortunes so far this season, are the visitors to Hillheads.
There are two rearranged fixtures later this month with Billingham Synthonia visiting Hillheads on Tuesday, October 15, while the game at Spennymoor Town has been brought forward from November and will now be played on Saturday, October 19.
Meanwhile former England schoolboy international Kyle Downey has left the club to join his home town side Ashington.
The teenager, who made 26 appearances for Whitley Bay and scored two goals, has been a fringe player since joining the senior ranks, often being used as a substitute.
Also released this week were two of Ian Chandler’s summer signings, striker Ryan McGorrigan and midfielder Michael Tait, neither of whom made the impact that had been hoped for.
Meanwhile Michael McMullen has returned to the club after a short spell at North Shields, and the speedy winger is likely to come straight into the squad for Saturday’s game.
