The annual general meeting of the Ebac Northern League was held at Whitley Bay FC on Saturday, with all 44 member clubs in attendance.
Fixtures for 2015-16 were released and Whitley Bay will begin the new campaign at home to West Auckland Town on Saturday, August 8, then travel to former manager Ian Chandler’s Durham City on Tuesday 11th.
The remaining August fixtures are: Tuesday 18th, Newcastle Benfield (h), Saturday 22nd, Dunston UTS (a), Wednesday 26th, Bedlington Terriers (a), Saturday 29th, Shildon (h).
The local derbies against North Shields are scheduled for Saturday, September 19, at Shields, with the return at Hillheads on Saturday, February 13.
The draws for the first two rounds of the League Cup were also made. Whitley have been handed a bye in the first round and will take on second division Ryhope CW at Hillheads in the second round.
The surprise news from the meeting came when long serving chairman Mike Amos announced that he would be standing down at the end of the coming season after 20 years in the role.
Easington Colliery have been promoted to the second division from the Wearside League, while those promoted to the first division are Seaham Red Star, Washington and Norton & Stockton Ancients.
Meanwhile, Whitley Bay FC have appointed Keith Gibson as match day secretary next season. A Bay fan, he will ease the workload on Derek Breakwell, who will remain as football secretary.
