A newly formed girls’ football team have won their league in their first season.
Whitley Bay FC Girls U14s were only established at the start of the season to encourage girls to participate in the sport.
After a steady start they improved dramatically under the guidance of head coach Ross Thomas and went on an unprecedented unbeaten run that saw them reach the final of the Northumberland County Cup and also lift the Pinpoint Premier League title.
The team thanked sponsors COLAS and Howdens Joinery for their financial support during the year.
They are now looking to strengthen their squad for the forthcoming season, so any interested girls should leave their details at Foxhunters pavilion.
