Yellows take derby spoils as Cullercoats are left disappointed

TYNEMOUTH United Yellows came out on top against a well disciplined Cullercoats team in the NEYDL Under-11 League.

Three first half goals were enough to consolidate Tynemouth’s position in the league, but they had to weather an early storm.

Tynemouth keeper Daniel Jackson had to be at his best in the early minutes, making two great saves.

Yellows took the lead in the ninth minute when a Billy Stewart corner was volleyed home first time by Will Forster from six yards out.

And they then extended their advantage only two minutes later when Oliver Harrison ran onto a through ball and chipped the ball over the advancing keeper.

Yellows extended their lead further on 22 minutes when Luca Buzzeo dribbled past three players before firing home a right foot effort.

Cullercoats battled hard but could not find a way through the Tynemouth midfield and defence, and when they did, their efforts were off target and they had one goal ruled out when play was brought back as the ball went out of play.

Jackson pulled off two more good saves before Cullercoats got their reward two minutes from time when Matthew Anderson scored following a goalmouth scramble.
