The Warriors took the lead through defenceman Craig Johnson on 5:25. Whitley made it 2-0 on 11:26 through Phil Edgar. Edgar was then awarded a penalty shot on 19:44 after being brought down, which he coolly slotted to Russell’s left to give his team a 3-0 lead.

Whitley conceded on 33:47 to Finn Jaakko Heiskanen.

Two goals for Solway scored just 40 seconds apart in the third period by Scott Henderson and Slovakian Peter Gápa levelled the scoring to 3-3.

Penalty shots ensued and Solway netted all three; Heiskanen burying the winner.
