Whitley scored just twenty five seconds in when defenceman Harry Harley successfully set up Captain Dean Holland. Alternate Captain Jordan Barnes doubled his side’s lead on 1:44 and forward Ross Murray made it 3-0 with a tap-in on 6:59. Forward Adam Finlinson extended the Warriors’ lead to 4-0 on 10:20 with a power play goal but Billingham’s Craig Thurston followed suit on 13:08 to make the score line 4-1 at the first interval.

Though Whitley incurred a bench minor on 27:45, forward Ben Richards’ shorthanded goal made it 5-1 just over a minute later. Billingham then scored their second on 35:50 when sixteen-year-old forward Joseph Walls achieved his first senior goal.

Stars’ forward Chris Sykes scored just thirty nine seconds into the third period to make it 5-3 but Whitley restored their three-goal lead through forward Phil Edgar on 41:10. Campbell slotted home Whitley’s seventh on a power play on 56:38 and Barnes added to this in the final minute of the game, firing past netminder Mark Watson to confirm the Warriors’ 8-3 victory.
