Warriors win big in Nottingham

Whitley Warriors achieved a convincing 8-0 victory over Nottingham Lions at the National Ice Centre on Sunday, writes Emma Hill.

Stand-in captain Ben Campbell opened his team’s account on 1:11 before he added a second on 4:38. Forward Ross Murray slipped the puck around netminder Josh Crane to make it 3-0 46 seconds later and the score line was unchanged going into the second period.

Campbell seized his hat-trick with a shorthanded goal on 28:31 and Latvian defenceman Rolands Gritāns made it 5-0 when he spun to execute a superb backhanded goal on 36:33.

Campbell grabbed his fourth with a wrist shot on 44:45. Canadian Phil Edgar made it seven and Gritāns’ slap shot on 54:26 made it 8-0.
