Barbarians trio pass coaching qualification

THREE members of the Whitley Bay Barbarians – Nancy Haughey, Paul Nancarrow and Gerard Hargreaves – have passed their rugby league level one coaching qualification.

The club have also appointed Gerard Hargreaves as the new lead coach for the under-14 boys’ team.

In his capacity he will also be helping Philip Walton with the under-17s.

Paul Nancarrow is the new lead coach for the under-11s and Nancy Haughey is now the under-11s team manager.

Nancarrow is also helping Lee Carbutt with the under-14 girls’ team The Wildcats.

Matthew Hinchley has taken the role of senior team coach with Rob Sykes as team manager.

The club is looking for players aged from four to 16 for the junior section and 16-plus for the under-17s and seniors.

The club are also looking to start an under-12 girls’ team for those who are in the Years 6 and 7.

The club welcomes any qualified coach/referees or people who are looking to be qualified in these areas, and any volunteers are also more than welcome.
