Whitley Bay 1sts suffered a seven wicket defeat away to Bomarsund in the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League on Saturday.

Bomar batted first and opener Colin Thornton hit an unbeaten century (113) as his side put on a big score of 308-4 with Adam Gardner on 79 and Adam McTaggart on 69.

John Douglas hit 79 in reply for Whitley, with Ivan Pearson on 51 and Craig Sample on 45 and Chris Wrigley on 38 not out, but they finished on 301-8 at the end of their 50 overs.

In a not so high scoring encounter, Whitley Bay 2nds won narrowly by five runs at home to Seaton Burn 2nds.

Bay made 157 all out with Yash Chavda on 34, Chirag Patel on 33 and Biren Shah on 23..

The visitors managed 152all out in reply with John Marshall top scoring on 42.

Darshit Patel was Whitley’s top bowler with figures of 6-31.
