BEVERLEY Park Tennis Club in Monkseaton is starting its coaching programme for junior players from four-years-old to teenagers.
The eight-week blocks of lessons on Saturday mornings will continue for six-years-old and upwards, but this year there is a special deal – if you book the first two blocks of eight sessions, you’ll get the third free.
“We’re really keen to encourage our junior players,” said coach Steven Lord.
“Last year we had a great season and we want to do even better this time.”
The club in Beverley Road, Monkseaton, will also be running sessions after school, on Mondays from 5pm to 6pm for four to seven-years-old and on Tuesdays at the same time for older players.
There will be a three-day tennis activity event in the Easter holidays, on April 19, 20 and 21 at the club, from 10am to noon for four to seven-years-old and from 12.30pm to 2.30pm for eight years and older.

“This is always a popular event,” said chairman Jon Pope, “and the kids have great fun, while improving their tennis skills at the same time.”
Booking forms are available from the secretary on (0191) 252 1598 or at the clubhouse on Saturday mornings, 9.15am to 11am.
And this year, the membership costs for juniors have been reduced, and are only £30 for under ten, and £40 for ten to 17-years-old.
For four and five-years-old, there is no need to pre-book. Just go along to the club at 9.15am on Saturdays – racquets and balls are provided. The cost is £2.50 per member and £5 per non member. When players have attended 16 sessions on Saturdays, they’ll get the next eight free, which is a fantastic deal.
