Two brothers have been honoured for their skills on the basketball court.

Theo Riley, who attends Marden High School, and his older brother Josiah Riley, who left the school in 2014, attended Middlesbrough FC’s Riverside Stadium recently for the MFC Foundation annual Regional Award ceremony.

The boys, together with their three teammates, won the prestigious Team Achievement Award, following their success last year in a National three by three basketball tournament.

Headteacher Jonathan Morris said: “We are all very proud of the Riley brothers’ success.

“After trials with the Newcastle Eagles basketball team last year Josiah and Theo were both selected to play in a squad of only five from the Newcastle area.

“They then went on to national victory, winning the U16 boys tournament.”
