Burgo maintains unbeaten record in the ring

North Shields School of Boxing staged their first home show of the season at the Kings Street Social Club, claiming seven wins from the ten evenly matched contests.

Debutants Sean Blake and Callum Bell both recorded impressive stoppage wins displaying maturity and accuracy with Callum Roadment showing an excellent counter punching display to win a points decision and also taking the best junior boxer award for the evening.

There were close split decision loses for both Tony Taylor and Dom Hattan but both boxed well in entertaining bouts.

While there were wins for the improving Lewis Murphy and Billy Grieveson getting back to winning ways and a powerful display from Tony Chalmers forcing a stoppage win in the return bout against L Hoerig of Forest Hall.

The two main events of the evening had super heavyweight Wes Burgo showing maturity against an older and very strong opponent, coming away with a split decision win to remain unbeaten.

The final bout of the night was a fantastic advertisement for amateur boxing with a close toe to toe battle between Andy Spowart of North Shields and Karl Gregory of West Degnans ABC. Gregory took the points win.
