North Shields Crusaders travelled to Jarrovians 2nds in the River Derwent League knowing a win would take them back to the top of the table.
Jonny Armitage returned to start at scrum-half while Paul Wells returned at full-back. In the pack, the front row saw Sam Condie in his usual hooker position and Gareth Ruddle returning to the back row.
The match was played out in front of the ‘Wor Rugby’ cameras and the Crusaders were impressive from the off.
Prop Matt Carney scored the first try which was converted by Gavin Duffy.
Andy Heron was next on the score sheet before Pete Dyers scored two tries either side of a try from Richard Sampson, Duffy successful will all the extras to give the Crusaders a 35-0 lead.
Next on the score sheet was Ruddle before a second for Sampson. Lock Sam Hodgson then went over before a second for Ruddle. Duffy adding three more conversions to give a half-time score of 61-0.
In the second half there two tries for centre Ben Cross before a third from Sampson to complete his hat-trick. Duffy adding all three conversions to give a final score of 82-0.
The panel gave man of the match to centre Cross who impressed on his first start for the Crusaders, as he just edged flanker Iain Finlay.
Next week the Crusaders are in league action with a home match as Seghill Deputies visit Preston Playing Fields, kick-off 3pm.
