Cullercoats boys extend historic league run

Cullercoats Tennis Club’s boys 16s team have secured their seventh straight Northumberland and Durham league division A title after beating Northumberland Club last weekend by 6-0.

Rory Thompson, Dan Simpson, James Parkin and Jacob Docx won all matches in straight sets and ended up going through the season unbeaten with victories over Tynedale, Collingwood, Shotley, Blaydon, Virgin Active and Northumberland.

Thompson, Simpson, Parkin and Docx were also backed up well by debutants Ryan Maughan and Liam Gunning.

Cullercoats domination of the boys 16s A division now stretches back to 2007 and is more impressive with the boys 16s second team currently sitting top of the C1 division after a weekend 6-0 victory over Stocksfield.

The second team of Ryan Maughan, Tom Whiting-Adams, Alfie Briggs and Peter Black are now awaiting other teams results to see if they are also crowned league champions.
