Cullercoats Tennis Club boys’ 14’s team had a good Northeast League victory over Collingwood last weekend.
Thomas Clark made an impressive debut in winning both singles and doubles in three close sets.
Will McCamly also played well to win his No. 3 singles and combine with Clark to take the No. 2 doubles, again in three sets.
Dom Gunning and Fred Stewart were solid at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively, taking their rubbers and the doubles without losing a set.
The win puts Cullercoats second in the Northeast boys’ 14’s table.
Cullercoats girls were less successful, also against Collingwood, coming away on the wrong end of a 4-2 scoreline.
Emma Charlton won in straight sets at No. 1 and combined well with Rachel Foreman in the No. 1 doubles, but the team stay third in the league after a close defeat.
