Cullercoats Tennis Club girls’ team enjoyed a good opening win in the Northumberland / Durham League over Shotley last weekend.
Newcomer Harriet Mutch did well, and despite giving away several years in age she showed great improvement.
Lydia Clark won her singles comfortably, as did Emma Charlton.
Then Steph Black showed great determination to come back from a set down to take the next two sets, the match and along with it a 4-2 win for Cullercoats.
Cullercoats boys’ green team also won comprehensively with Sam Knowles, Paul Freeman and Thomas Beckwith all claiming straight sets victories.
Max Boxshall was unlucky to lose a close singles third set but combined well with Beckwith to take the doubles rubber in a solid 5-1 Cullercoats win.
Cullercoats mini red first team enjoyed a thumping 32-0 win over Cramlington with Olly Cass, Thomas O’Hara, Jess Hart and Alex Licciardi all winning four rubbers each.
