Whitley Bay 1sts suffered a double defeat at the hands of Backworth in what was a busy weekend for the Northumberland and Tyneside League with games on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday Whitley went down by 96 runs at Backworth.
The home side batted steadily and put on a respectable 229 with Chris Liddle top scoring on 68.
Ivan Pearson took 4-41 for the visitors, who in reply saw Keeran Spurrell hit 55, but they were all out for 133 with three wickets for Mark Minto.
In the return on Sunday Whitley went down to a heavy nine wicket defeat.
Bay batted first and were all out for only 77, with Pearson the top scorer on 15.
Liddle was again the main bowler taking 4-26 for Backworth, who in reply needed only 22 overs to chase the target down with John Duncan hitting 31 not out as the home side posted 78-1.
