A TYNEMOUTH Cricket Club official rubbed shoulders with some legends of the game as he was honoured in a national award.
Don Catley, who is also secretary of the North East Mid-Week Cricket League, attended Lords after being named one of the regional nominees in the NatWest Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards (OSCAs).
He received his recognition for the ‘League and Boards’ category in the Northumberland region, being presented with it by host, and cricket commentator Jonathan Agnew.
Current and past players were also in attendance – including James Anderson, Matt Prior, Peter Willey, Mike Gatting, Claire Taylor and Michael Vaughan – as well as more than 350 people from across the recreational game.
Mike Gatting said: “Congratulations to all the winners, you are the unsung heroes of our game and your awards are richly deserved.”
