Family fun planned for rugby Sevens event

Rugby fans are being invited to a special tournament featuring a host of local teams.

The Alnwick Rum Northumberland 7s 2014 series is taking place on Saturday, May 31, at Druid Park, the home of Northumberland rugby in Callerton, near Newcastle Airport.

Northern, Gosforth, Percy Park, North Shields, Morpeth, Consett, Ponteland, Seghill, Wallsend, Novocastrians, Ashington, Blyth, and Westoe are amongst the clubs that will try and remove the 2013 7’s crown from Tynedale RFC.

Sevens is traditionally associated with fun, fast, dynamic and magical rugby and is a great spectacle for all the family.

The first kick off is at noon and the tournament runs until 5pm, there will be two pitches run so plenty of action to see all of the time.

Asides from rugby there will be other sports and activities being showcased around the sides of the pitches to build for a good family day out.
