THE finals of the annual Beverley Park Lawn Tennis Club championships were held on Saturday.
The rounds have been played during the last few weeks, with excellent matches following a good level of entries.
The competition was organised by committee member Julia Carmichael, and the results were as follows:
Juniors – Red U8 Cup: Josh Eyre beat Angus Henry; Orange U9 Cup: Will Gray beat Charlie Maughan; Boys’ U11 Cup: Will Gray beat Charlie Maughan; Girls’ U11 Cup: Eve Farrell beat Jenny Blakey 5-7, 7-1, 8-6.
Boys’ U14 Singles Tennis Player: Dan Walker beat Jacob Sloan 4-2, 4-1; Boys’ U14 Doubles Spence Cup: Jamie Lunn and Dan Walker beat Jacob Sloan and James Thomas 4-2, 5-4; Boys’ U16 Singles Robinson Optometrist Cup: Philip Williams beat Dominic Widdas 4-6, 5-5; RTD; Boys’ U16 Doubles: Dominic Widdas and Philip Williams beat Cameron Barlow and Jamie Farnworth 6-1, 6-1; Boys’ U18 Singles Crawford Cup: Sean Allen beat Dominic Widdas 7-5, 6-4. Girls’ U12 Singles Girls The Stead Cup: Lucy Maughan beat Georgia Widdas (RR); Girls’ U14 Doubles Spence Cup: Lucy Maughan/Georgia Widdas beat Joanna McColl/Millie Leather 4-5, 4-1, 10-3; Cartledge Cup for Endeavour: Will Gray.
Trophies were presented for the most improved juniors, who receive free membership for next year.

Seniors – Ladies Singles: Jane Pledger beat Sarah Scrafton 6-1, 6-3; Ladies Doubles The Carmichael Cup: Jane Pledger and Jane Cubbins beat Julia Carmichael and Sarah Scrafton 6-3, 6-4; Men’s Singles The Challenge Cup: Phil Wood beat Sean Allen 6-3, 6-2; Men’s Doubles Wilf Phillips Cups: Phil Wood and Steven Lord beat Michael Scrafton and Sean Allen 6-3, 6-3; Mixed Doubles The Blackah Trophy: Norah Rogers and Phil Wood beat Jane Pledger and Paul Ridley 6-4, 6-4.
