Free sessions for youngsters to play badminton

NORTH Tyneside Badminton Academy is opening its doors to new junior members who are entitled to a free taster session during February, March and April.

The sessions are open to children aged eight to 16 who want to be involved in badminton, have fun and join the coaching pathway which can lead to competitive play and junior leagues.

The academy has three squads of varying levels and children can progress to the development squad, which has the opportunity to play competitively.

The sessions are run by qualified level 1 and 2 coaches, who implement coaching techniques as applied by Badminton England and enable the children to reach their full potential.

For a free session call club secretary Pamela Ferguson on 07765 371683.

Sessions take place on Sundays from 10am till noon at John Spence High School in North Shields.

Normal sessions run during school term timetables every Sunday from September to July.

The academy is affiliated to Badminton England, The Newcastle United Foundation, Sport England and Whitley Bay Adult Badminton Club.
