Golf event raises cash for charity

Wallsend Golf Club held a competition to raise money for the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity.

The competition format was a best of three from four stableford scores with the winning team, on 135 points, being Ernie Corby, Neale Pattison, Kevin Stephenson and Ian Hughes.

A total of 58 teams took part, raising £3,820 for the charity.

A club spokesperson said: “The response from the membership and local people was tremendous.

“Everything received was greatly appreciated and reflected the feeling that local people have for this very worthwhile charity.

“The number of raffle prizes donated was unbelievable, showing the generosity of everyone concerned.”
