Whitley Warriors coach Simon Leach has made another impressive addition to his roster as former player Dan Harris has agreed to return to Hillheads for the 2013-14 campaign.

Harris has spent the last two seasons in the English Premier League icing for Basingstoke Bison and Milton Keynes Lighting.

The young defenceman made around 80 appearances during his time in the EPL, picking up 11 assists along the way.

He also has experience of the UK Elite League as during his last season at Hillheads he helped Newcastle Vipers out by icing for them on four occasions when his Warriors commitments allowed.

Leach said: “We are delighted to be able to welcome Dan back to Whitley Bay. He is an excellent signing for us who boosts our defensive options.

“He has great experience from playing in the EPL for two years and we’ve been working hard to get him in.”

The coach added that the pre-season preparation is going well at Hillheads.

“We are not too far away now and I’m happy with the players we’ve got, however, I’m always looking to see if anyone else becomes available,” he said.

Whitley’s squad for the 2013-14 season is already looking well balanced as Leach has been able to secure a top netminder in Richie Lawson, five blue liners, including Harris, and eight forwards in his first few weeks back at Hillheads as Warriors head coach.
