Hundreds are kwik to give cricket a go

The annual Tynemouth Schools Kwik Cricket competition held at Preston Avenue was once again well supported by local schools.

A total of 214 children in 25 teams took part in a total of 60 matches, with Cullercoats winning both the boys’ and girls’ competitions.

The event builds on the work the club and Northumberland Cricket Board do in the schools which includes curriculum sports lessons, sessions building life skills through social and emotional aspects of learning and after schools clubs.

The scheme has also seen an increasing number of teachers and schools receive free teacher training days with a view to creating a sustainable structure.
