Hundreds expected at first rugby festival

Percy Park Rugby Club are hosting the North Tyneside Festival of Rugby on Sunday, October 6.

In partnership with Northumberland Rugby Union and with support from Newcastle Falcons, Percy Park have attracted 906 children aged from six to ten-years-old to play in the opening festival of the season.

The event is aimed at helping children with the new laws of rugby and it also allows cross county coaches to share ideas and training plans which will help develop the children going forward.

A total of 115 teams have entered across the five age groups and will see Percy Park arrange and execute 220 fixtures on 26 pitches over four hours.

All children taking part will be fed and will receive commemorative medals.

Doors open at 9am, with the first fixtures starting at 10.30am.

If any child wishes to consider giving rugby a try, parents can visit the club website or ring Glenn Forster on 07812 834089.
