Jordan Hill made a winning debut in the Northeast Boys 18s League, winning the No 2 doubles with Tom Ridley to help Colllingwood Tennis Club to a fine 4-2 victory over a tough Bohemians team.
With No 2 Sam Allonby coming through a tough three-set match and No 3 Ridley winning comfortably, Collingwood edged ahead.
At No 4 singles, Hill played solid tennis but was giving away four years in age, losing in close sets, as did No 1 Olly Drake.
It was down to the experienced Drake and Allonby to dominate the No 1 doubles, winning 4-0, 4-1 to take the points which see Collingwood top of the league.
Collingwood’s mini red team of Anna Elizabeth Osbourne, Luke Thompson, Amelie Tones and Aidan Raftery all played good tennis in a close 9-7 loss to Northumberland club.
Collingwood orange team continue to dominate the Newcastle League with another, this time against David Lloyd. Matt Barnaby and Max Thompson won all their matches to remain unbeaten in the league.
