Judo club’s grading success

Seven members of the Bushido Judo Kwai took part in the All England Judo Federation (Newcastle Region) junior and senior grading in Wallsend with great success.

This grading consisted of contest/theory but with an emphasis on Nage-no-Kata, these are forms of throwing that were introduced by the founder of Judo, Jigoro Kano. These techniques show maximum efficiency with minimum effort, which all of the students had to demonstrate.

Promotions went to: Jack Compton, eight; Jack Barnett, nine; Jessica Cairns, 12; Liam Banks, 13, who has now reached the highest level possible as a junior with a grade of green belt plus three black bars. Liam joined the Bushido Judo Kwai on March 27, 2009, and has shown great commitment to get to this level.

Seniors to gain promotion were: Callum Dean Mitchell, 22; Shaun Vallely, 16, and Michael Mains, 22.
