Marden excel at finals day

MARDEN Bridge Middle School had its most successful athletics season over the school year, culminating in a County Final event at Gateshead International Stadium.

The school had 17 athletes involved.

They were Zoe Hornby, Emily Davis, Ailsa Denholm, Hazel Smith, Brandon Bell, Olivia Brough, Caitlan Brough, Lily Bennett, Phoebe Waller, Robyn Luckley, Connor Graham Scott, Connor Stewart, Callum Smith, Sam Bryan, Dominic Foster, Charlotte Brentnall and Fahima Yasmin.

The following pupils managing to achieve top three finishes: Brandon Bell, shot put, Zoe Hornby, shot put and discuss champion, Olivia Brough, 200m champion and second in shot put, Caitlan Brough, long jump champion and third in 100m, Emily Davis, 100m champion and third in long jump.

Another noteable display was the North Tyneside Year 8 girls relay team made up of all Marden Bridge Middle School pupils who came runners up in the 4 x 100m – Caitlan Brough, Olivia Brough, Lill Bennett and Phoebe Waller.

Caitlan and Olivia Brough flew out to Switzerland at the weekend as part of the team representing GB at an International Gymnastics competition.

The girls have trained incredibly hard over the years and the whole school wishes them success.
