YOUNG martial arts competitors are on the look out for help to take them to the world championships in November.
The team at Burns School of Black Belts in Heaton is looking for sponsorship to prove that they are world class
Robin Sword, of North Shields, whose children Christopher, 13, and Geri, 10, are part of the team, has put out an appeal for help to raise the necessary funds.
Now in its eighth year, the team has produced a number of north of England and English champions in various martial arts, and several members have qualified for the English finals in October.
Mr Sword said: “We’re hoping to move on to greater things by competing at the European Championships at Sheffield in August and the World Championships in Italy.
“The profile of the club is slowly rising. It has very much a family atmosphere with kids and parents travelling and competing together.”
