Mischiefs hit nine but only secure a draw

WHITLEY Mischiefs and Nottingham Sherwood shared 18 goals in their under-10s ice hockey game.

Despite being shorthanded, Jay Lucas scored their first goal at 2:15, Josh Reynolds had gone close three times before Lucas then found the net again in a powerplay.

Sherwood hit back through Ellis Ricci before Reynolds re-established their two-goal lead.

Sherwood’s second by Logan Neilson came as Mischiefs had a player in the penalty box.

The second period started with an early goal from Reynolds before Sherwood’s third goal which was followed by the Mischiefs’ fifth from Reynolds.

Despite being a player down, Sherwood’s Neilson pulled another back.

Mischiefs netminder Daniel Crowe then made a number of fantastic saves.

The third period started well for both teams but a goal from Reynolds put the Mischiefs two ahead again.

But within a minute Sherwood scored two to bring the scores level at 6-6 before another goal from Neilson put Sherwood ahead for the first time.

Reynolds pulled Mischiefs level and one minute later, Callum Taylor scored on a powerplay.

Reynolds scored the Mischiefs ninth before Sherwood scored two goals to tie the game at 9-9.

Spirit of the game awards went to Mischiefs’ Alex Nergaard and Sherwood’s Mitchell Newton.
